Public Notice to All Customers of the Prairie du Sac Municipal Electric and Water

The Prairie du Sac Municipal Electric and Water (applicant) has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to increase electric rates. The increase is necessary to reflect changes in operating costs, capital improvements, and a need to review and adjust the rate tariff structure since the last electric rate case in 2021.

The requested increase in revenues is an overall increase above the electric utility’s present revenues of $492,268, or 8.57%.  This request is detailed in the utility’s electric rate application submitted to the PSCW on November 22, 2025.  After review, Commission staff proposes an increase in rates of $410,445, or 7.14%.  The actual change to individual customers will vary with electricity usage, class of service and the ultimate rates authorized by the Commission.  If the application is approved by the PSCW as filed, the average residential customer using 659 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month will see a monthly increase of approximately $7.14, or 8.86%.  The average single‑phase general service customer using 1,240 kWh of electricity per month would see a monthly increase of approximately $10.06, or 6.29%. Changes of the monthly bills in other types of customers may vary from these averages.

A public hearing on the application has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.  This hearing has no physical location.  Parties and Commission staff appear by Zoom.  Parties and Commission staff may use the telephone connection as a backup or if no adequate internet connection exists.  Members of the public participate by Zoom or may use the telephone connection as a backup or if no adequate internet connection exists.
