Public Involvement Meeting - 20th to 13th Street (Industrial Park)

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has awarded the Village of Prairie du Sac a STP-Local Program Grant to assist with a road project within the Prairie du Sac Industrial Park. The project intends to include the following: North Street between 20th Street and 13th Street, 19th Street and Tower Street from Prairie Street to Water Street, 17th Street from North Street to Tower Street, 15th Street from North Street to Tower Street, and the northern 300 feet of 13th Street to Tower Street. The project scope includes a mill and overlay of asphalt pavement on curbed streets and a pulverize and overlay of asphalt pavement on streets without curb.

The existing road pavement has reached the end of its working life cycle and is showing signs of distress with extensive cracking, surface deterioration resulting in potholes, and poor ride quality.  These cracks allow water and de-icing chemicals to enter the pavement and accelerate the deterioration of the roadway corridor. Because of the significance of the deterioration, temporary repairs and maintenance, such as patches and crack sealing, have diminished returns.

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, the Village will conduct a Public Involvement Meeting (PIM).  The purpose of the PIM is to present information regarding the general purpose and need for the projects, discuss impacts, answer questions, and obtain your input that will be considered during the design of the project.  A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.  After the presentation, the PIM will follow an open house format that will conclude at 2:30 p.m.  The PIM will be held in the Village Hall located at 335 Galena Street, Prairie du Sac, WI. Wheelchair accessibility is available at the meeting site.

While the construction schedule will depend on factors such as time of bidding, contractor progress, and weather, it is anticipated construction would take place between spring of 2026 and fall of 2026.

Persons with a concern for or knowledge about historic buildings and structures and archaeological sites are also encouraged to attend this meeting or provide comments to the local units of government.
