The Village of Prairie du Sac Water Department is pleased to announce that a new municipal drinking water well will soon be placed into service. Well #5, located within Marion Park near 1st and Lincoln Streets, will enhance the reliability and long-term sustainability of our community’s water supply.
As the new well comes online, customers located near the well and in surrounding service areas may notice temporary changes in their water. These changes may include:
- Slight differences in water pressure
- Minor changes in taste or odor
- Temporary discoloration (yellow, tan, or light brown tint)
- Occasional air in water lines
These effects are normal when a new water source is introduced and when water flows shift within the distribution system and should resolve themselves. The water will continue to meet all state and federal drinking water standards.
If you experience temporary discoloration, running cold water from a faucet for several minutes typically clears the water. We also recommend avoiding laundry until the water runs clear.
