The Village of Prairie du Sac's Brush and Compost Site is available to dump items from village properties (pay property taxes to the Village of Prairie du Sac). The site recently moved to 1005 19th Street in the northwest corner of the Prairie du Sac Industrial Park. Because of the move, you no longer need to check out a key. The site is open 24/7 and is under video surveillance.
The Brush & Compost Site may be used to drop off allowable items that come from properties located in the Village of Prairie du Sac (pay property taxes to the Village of Prairie du Sac) in the assigned locations:
- Grass Clippings
- Garden/Yard Waste
- Leaves
- Wood Chips
- Brush
Anything else will be considered illegal dumping and will be prosecuted. Only biodegradable bags are accepted at the site. Any other type of bags - grocery, plastic, etc. would be considered illegal dumping. No dumping items from properties that are outside the corporate limits of the Village of Prairie du Sac. If the property taxes for the property are not paid to the Village of Prairie du Sac, the property is not eligible to dump items at the site.
Mulch/wood chips and compost is available at the site. The mulch/wood chips is the result of chipping brush that is either dropped off at the site or collected curbside. The compost is created by the decomposition of organic matter such as yard waste that is either dropped off at the site or collected curbside.
